I've got to think he sticks with baseball if he lasts beyond the 15rh pick right? Most mocks have him between 10th and 20th off the board.

    If he's a first-round pick, he'll play football.

I was surprised to realize almost half the starting QBs this year (15) had been with their team for three seasons or fewer.

Why? A first rounder means he makes far more money in football.

Maybe he is thinking baseball would allow him to make millions of dollars and avoid taking a beating.

That’s a big if and the big pay day is a long ways away.

First thing I thought of as well.

True, though he already got $4.66 million guaranteed from the Athletics. It's not like he's going to be poor in the short term either way.

I also imagine that a factor would be his confidence that he will succeed in either sport. If he's going to have money either way, is the larger potential earnings more important to him than having a better career?

I figure he has a better shot in transitioning back to football if baseball doesn't work, than the opposite. Baker Mayfield's success will end up getting a lot of GMs fired when they draft players who can't compensate for their lack of height.
