Good deal. no bad one-year deals. If he rebounds, they can trade him at the deadline for some assets.

Looks like Goon Pat Maroon will be re-signing with Tampa.

Liked Justin Williams. Was sad he went back to the Hurricanes because I've come to loathe that bunch, almost as much as the Penguins. But it was probably time for him. He was on the fence about playing last year.

Perfect. Also, Caps signed Justin Schultz for $4M a year on a two-year deal. Laviolette loves him, so I'll defer to his judgment.

Re: Lundqvist. This coming season will have a compressed schedule with lots of back-to-back games. Lots of opportunities to rack up many games even as a “backup”.

    Win-win!

And it will be great having Ragu onboard for some of the Caps’ games.

The goalie game of musical chairs has stopped
All the free agents found a home except Jimmy Howard
    Vegas still has MAF
Can’t sign Pietrangelo until they move him
Gonna cost them at least a No. 1 to do it

I wouldn't sign Jimmy Howard at age 36. ... unless my teams' schedule has the Rangers penciled in for all 82 games.

Seriously, I am not sure where the market for Jimmy Howard is at this point. He really got hurt by all of those veteran goalies being out there. Even Lundqvist was a much better option for a team looking for insurance because they have a young goalie.

Not a major signing, but Carolina added Jesper Fast, which is a sad one for Rangers fans. He is a sold two-way forward who did everything they ever asked of him and was the hardest worker on that team. The Rangers have a "players' player" award, voted on by the players to choose the best team player, and Fast won it the last 5 years in row.

I imagine he wants to play with Eichel and hope to get his value back up.
