There was a moment this season where you could see the entire AFC North gone. I'm sure Harbaugh's "interest" in the NFL rises in tandem with the grumbling he hears in Ann Arbor about that Peach Bowl beatdown. Surprised there haven't been rumors about Gruden (East coast version) and/or McDermott in Buffalo. There have been 25 AFC East coaching changes since Belichick got the Pats job.
The league has gotten out of whack though. Sure McVey came in after Goff's first year and straightened him out, but the usual timeline was coach hired, has a year to evaluate QB position, brings in "his" QB and then has two years to sink or swim.
Now a GM drafts a guy, existing coach gets canned after a year. New coach comes in and has to wait two years to get "his" QB (if he makes it that long). Tampa is going to have a hard time getting a coach willing to bet his career on Winston. The Bengals are a team that should make a play for Stafford, but they're too cheap.
One final thought: how many "great young offensive minds" don't look so great when Peyton Manning or Favre isn't part of the package?

Considering all but two playoff coaches are in their first HC gig, Might be a good year to hire a retread since most of the league will opt for a "young coach" who "connects with players." I always thought the coaches to hire would be the never been an HC before who may no longer qualify as young. Don't know how many 1-year OC's got a top job before they were ready. For every McVey there are 10 Adam Gases and McDaniels.

    OK.
    So that's filled.
If that's the case, is NYJ the next best gig?

Actually I'd go with Cincinnati. Dalton is serviceable, but you could draft his replacement. VERY understanding management. Sounds like there is front office chaos in Arizona, you don't want to depend on Elway to find your next QB, there has been something off about Miami since the Shula years - seems to be a poorly run organization, same goes for Tampa and you have to waste at least year with Winston. The Packers is a question mark, it could be that McCarthy and Rodgers covered up a decade of bad drafts.
I also get the sense that football GMs are taking a more "active" role in how things are run - like baseball.

Good point about the Bengals. They've been a solid but underachieving team for awhile. But there's talent on that roster, or enough to bridge with an infusion of younger talent. And of course, the ownership to this point, has been super patient.

Super patient may also mean "not that interested in winning" so that when the time comes where the coach needs one or two big pieces of his puzzle, he gets told no.

It says a lot about the state of the Raiders nowadays that not one, but two, key positions could be filled by guys coming from TV. But after winning the turf war with McKenzie, how much power does he yield back to any GM?
