Yeah, but...everyone already knows the answer to the question. They suck without Westbrook, and he wasn't about to let his teammate berate himself. Let's not act like "Why isn't a team as good with their star player on the bench?" was some hard-hitting question that only Adams could answer. It would have been better directed at Donovan in the form of "Why can't you put together a system that's not 100% dependent on Russ?"

Also, as MeanGreenATO pointed out on the JTO thread, it's worth pointing out that it was Berry Tramel who asked the question. Tramel also wrote the famous "Mr. Unreliable" article. So he and Westbrook have had issues before.

The worst player in the playoffs 2017 Norris Cole? He came in and 2 of first 3 possessions he takes inbound and pounds the ball then jacks up a long 2; then proceeds to turn it over; somehow, Donovan brings him back in the start of 4th (?) and he does the same exact routine. He makes Westbrook look like a team player.

Checked box score, 9 mins, 0-3, 2 TOs, 0 assists, 2 PF, -18. Nice pickup Presti.

That article was about Kevin Durant.

Memphis defense has knocked Kevin Durant from his moorings

And Tramel didn't write the headline. And the sports editor apologized the next day.

Westbrook is incredibly insecure and passive-aggressive - a narcissist.

There might not be another player in the NBA who cares more about what other people think than Westbrook.

Because when you're a control freak like he is, you actually care desperately about the opinions of others - to the extent that you think you have to control everything because it's all a reflection on you.

Right. (The editor who designed the page was posting here at the time, IIRC.) Just pointing out that there was notable history there - after all, that was when Westbrook still liked Durant.

Someone at the Ringer said Westbrook was the pettiest player in the NBA. That seems about right to me, or at least plausible.

Warriors shoot 58 percent from the field in the first half, 63 percent (12/19) from three. Even Mike Brown can't screw that up.

Excellent insight on Berry's twitter --

"Play is fantastic with Westbrook on floor, but on the bench questions arise."

Well, if "someone at the Ringer" said so, it must be true ...."or at least plausible."

I'd imagine a Bill Simmons-led site would be the go-to expert on pettiness.

I think big circus was just acknowledging that he had heard that somewhere; not claiming The Ringer to be the definitive authority.

Correct. Although LTL's point is a good one.
