Hudspeth had 3 straight losing seasons AND got hit with NCAA sanctions, so he wasn't going to survive down there. He'll probably wind up as an offensive coordinator somewhere next year and rebuild his image.
But yeah, I thought for years he'd eventually get the Mississippi State job after Mullen left. That's the job he really wants (he went to Delta State, but grew up near Starkville). I think he could have had the Southern Miss job after Fedora if he'd really wanted it, but that would have been a lateral move from ULL.

The thing about most of the G5 gigs, you better be up and out in four years or so, or figure this is your last gig.

I think Taggart is going to do well and the time at USF and Oregon will serve him well. He was on the verge of getting axed at USF early in his third year which would have been a shame because he had really upgraded the talent on the roster. But he, Quinton Flowers, Marlon Mack and Rodney Adams got with him after a loss to Memphis that made them 1-3. They asked him to open it up and spread it out. He spent a few hours on the white board with them re-designing plays and a system to call plays from the line and then after four weeks they decided to take it a step further and go even faster. It worked, he won 17 of his final 21 at USF and moved on.

Jimbo was basically out after the loss to Alabama. He felt like he had a championship-caliber roster at FSU. They lost and he really blamed it on the fact that Alabama has about 20 additional off-field coaches providing "support staff" for Saban and the eight regular assistants. And then it was the lack of a football-only facility. As good of a coach as Jimbo can be he LOVES playing the victim. He loves blaming circumstances for any shortcoming. He blamed the players after N.C. State upset FSU in 2012 and got absolutely raked over the coals by fans, boosters and the administration for it.

As for the OLs...I don't get it. They have some impressive looking line prospects and they struggle with development there. They had a very good line in 2013-2014 behind Cam Irving but otherwise it's been very hit or miss.
