He admitted that he carried vials of cocaine in his uniform during games.

He's one of the best catchers to ever play the game.

If you aren't playing high and mighty about PEDs, which from the ballot you clearly aren't, putting Rodriguez on there should be a decision that takes approximately 0.6 seconds.

    14 All-Star Game selections.
    13 Gold Gloves.
    7 Silver Sluggers.
    World Series champion.
    MVP.
Led the league in CS% nine times.
    311 home runs.

Doesn't pass the jr/shotglass "eye test."

OK, I'm wrong. Put Pudge on. That's seven.

And you say I never budge. I budge on Pudge.

This is a landmark day here.

And let me note, in closing: Maybe this is a small lesson about how your own gut instinct is not always infallible.

Oh, c'mon, Dick. Don't take yourself so seriously. It's just message-board banter. :)

not least because he said he used to slide headfirst so that the vials wouldn't smash in his back pocket. Anybody can load up a nose dropper and take some blasts between series on the sidelines (ala, Lawrence Taylor). But adjusting your game to account for the ya-yo in your back pocket? That's next level commitment.

But he had a lot more sub-par seasons than Smoltz or Mussina.
