He'd have my vote. If you had to win a big game, who would you rather have as your coach, Dan Reeves, Mike Holmgren, Jimmy Johnson or Tony Dungy? I'd take the other three over Dungy in a heartbeat.

Reeves is also one of only six people to coach two different teams to a Super Bowl.

Maybe he, Holmgren and Vermeil can all go in together.

Ron Wolf and Bill Polian are the contributors nominees for 2015. The final 11 candidates were not revealed.

How in ANY objective measure is Vermeil WAY ahead of Dungy?

Winning percentage, Dungy has the advantage, .668-.524. They both have a Super Bowl win. Vermeil had six losing seasons. Dungy had one. Dungy also had 10-win seasons in 10 of the 14 years he coached.

From Peter King's article on the meeting, the 11 finalists were:

Former Washington and San Diego GM Bobby Beathard.
    Outgoing Denver owner Pat Bowlen.
Former Dallas personnel man/current NFL analyst/draftnik Gil Brandt.
Former San Francisco owner Eddie DeBartolo.
Longtime NFL officials and administrator Art McNally.
Former Cleveland and Baltimore owner Art Modell.
Polian, the former Buffalo, Carolina and Indianapolis GM.
Former NFL Films president Steve Sabol.
    Former commissioner Paul Tagliabue.
Wolf, the former Raiders scout and Tampa Bay and Green Bay GM.
    Former Giants GM George Young.

Objectively, the election of Dungy to the Hall of Fame would create too many unnecessary distractions for the other admittees and the Hall of Fame. Also, shouldn't the Vatican take the lead in canonizing the Holy One?

Oh, so it's not an anti-Dungy coach vote it's an anti-Dungy because he's a Christian vote. Got it.

I have no idea how long it will take Dungy to get into Canton, but I think his comments earlier this year make it a safe bet he's not going in with the next class.

Sabol should have gone in with his dad.
Terrible oversight, and they all knew he was sick at the time.
Gil Brandt might be the most overrated executive in NFL history.

As great as Polian and Wolf are, I've always viewed the HOF as being for people who made an indelible imprint on the game. I don't know if a GM (or ref) is capable of doing that. They draft players, hire coaches but really don't "change" the game at all. I'd almost think Gil Brandt - who is credited with quantifying players with computers - had more impact.

Not to say GMs can't have an impact on the game (Branch Rickey, Billy Beane), just that I don't know if Polian and Wolf are innovators.
