Every name on this thread so far would be a better coach for Mizzou than Kim Anderson.

And, yes, that includes Steak Snabler and Jake Taylor.

Basically if Brian Gregory was at a school that had a huge alumni base and lots of buyout money, he would have been fired. Instead, he is at a school with a tight budget and one who is still paying the former coach so he gets another year to prove to the rest of the world he is too incompetent to coach in the ACC.....

DePaul and Gregory would seem to be a great match, but the timing is off by a year.

The Mizzou situation is fascinating to me. Since shooing Norm out the door, except for one Elite Eight trip under Mike Anderson, it seems they can't make a move that doesn't blow up in their face.

No reason in the world - with the facilities, recruiting grounds to pick from, resources available - that they should wallow like this for such an extended period.

Billy Grier out at USD. Another coach from the Gonzaga tree who has struggled out on his own. Had a great first couple years with Brad Holland's leftovers, then was essentially a .500 coach in a bad league.

Regarding DePaul, among the names thrown out this morning by Kaplan and Haugh: Bryce Drew, Bobby Hurley, the guy at Manhattan and Gregg Marshall. Both hosts admitted Marshall has p.r. issues and probably wouldn't want to make the move anyway. Drew apparently turned down Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Cal in the past so one wonders if he would have any interest in the tire fire that is DePaul basketball.

Why would anyone mention Gregg Marshall and DePaul?

Yeah, I just about spilled my cup of coffee. DePaul needs someone with the charisma and enthusiasm to smooch-sell a program that hardly registers in its own city. Sorta like Vitale and U of D years ago. That isn't Marshall.

I was thinking more along the lines of why in the blue fuck would Marshall even consider coaching at DePaul?

It's a top 10 program. Oh wait, that was 1987.
