2 in 3 years. Just unbelievable.

L.A. Kings ... hockey power. Never in my wildest dreams.

Dodgers, yes. Lakers, yes. Rams? Eh. USC football, definitely.

But the Los Angeles Kings? Gods of Hockey? Never ever latched onto the vision, because the NHL was, during my childhood, about the Isles and Oilers and Habs and Penguins and Bruins and Flyers and Blackhawks and hell, even the Flames.

The thing about this year's squad is that they're just goddamn voracious in every facet of the game. They came at you in waves and waves and fought and fought and fought and scrapped and skated and skated and never panicked and did every little thing so wonderfully.

There were long stretches of play this postseason where I sat there thinking that these Kings are as talented as any champion I had ever watched growing up. Happy for the Kings? By all means. But gratified is the better word. They did it the right away. They didn't fluke their way into the Cup. They played hockey the way I never thought they'd be capable of playing.

2 in 3 years. Unbelievable. But true.

Watched the highlights on espn this morning and Melrose said it was a good call. I've been wondering how in touch he really is anymore and that might have sealed it.

Congrats to the Kings fans on here.

Frustrating that the Rangers had so many chances and couldn't get one home.

Proud they got this far, seeing as how they finally put to bed the Penguins' playoff curse and were down 3-1 in that series. Didn't think they'd get past the Pens but somehow they did it and then beat the Habs in the ECF.

I hope they'll be back soon and not in another 20 years.

Oh, yeah, Rangers fought hard and well. Nothing to be ashamed of. But they need more guys --- like Gaborik --- who can create their own shot.
