He should have been. And it would have been entirely justified for him to blow out Lombardi and Banner at that time.

Before they hired the new coach.

Speaking of the Browns, here's Josh Gordon's new back tattoo:

Why, what have Lombardi and Banner done not to be given more time?

The bungling of the coaching search was just horrible. Worth firing just for that. When you add it with the fact that they hired Chud and then fired him after one season, it's just clearly Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

They also got a first for Richardson and have a bundle of picks. The fans of Cleveland are lumping them in with the past and Haslem listened. It's a dangerous game when you start listening to yuor fans.

The coaching search was not handled well, that can't be defended but I'm not sure it's a fireable offense this early in their term.

They won't fire him now, but through no fault of his own, he's already on the hot seat. GMs hate inheriting a HC and when that happens, in most cases, the coach is gone within the year. Every now and then it works out like it has with the Jets, but most GMs, unless they have a previous relationship with the HC or the HC brings them in (not happening here...) want to bring in their own guy.

I read something the other day the Lions have never fired a coach who went on to become an NFL head coach elsewhere. That is pretty incredible. The Browns are working on their own streak post-Belichick.

Damn, Michael Vick, you're at it again?

    Oh, wait ...

    Cue Samuel Jacksonian rant.

Considering how many re-treads there are in the NFL that is pretty amazing... I think Mooch could have gotten another job afterwards, but was burned out after dealing with Millen and was happy to collect $15 million over the last three years of his contract.

Technically, yes, but he was an interim coach who was given the job.
    Just like Schottenheimer in Cleveland

I am surprised Mooch hasn't returned to coaching. It's almost been 10 years.
He's good at his media gig but he was a pretty good coach.
