Re: 2013 NFL draft/early entry running thread: Marcus Lattimore going pro

I've heard him rated as a third- or fourth-rounder now. He's much better than Brodie Croyle or Greg McElroy. He should contend for the Heisman Trophy next season.

Yeah. A.J. made the smart, if not blindingly obvious, call here.

The hard part for A.J. was probably putting off his loudmouth parents, who've been plotting how to get him drafted early from the time he reached his dorm room.

Is Jarvis Jones really the #1 prospect coming out? In the 'Bama game, the most disappointing thing was seeing the Bulldogs, including Jones, get blown out on the line of scrimmage in the 3rd and 4th qtrs when Bama started running. Unlike Von Miller, I do not think Jones holds up on the run.

Lot of high picks doing worse than Ponder. Tim Tebow. Ryan Mallett. Colt McCoy. Blaine Gabbert.

But the point is valid... too many teams reach for a quarterback too early and overpay for him. Only QB I would consider in the first round this year is Barkley, and not as a top five overall pick.

I'd have to see how Lattimore is progressing by April. That was a serious injury. Not totally writing him off but I wouldn't be expecting him to start as a rookie, either. And that is sort of the standard for first-round picks.

AP story I saw said he's not anticipating stepping on an NFL field before 2014.

If that is true, no way am I drafting him... in any round. Running back is the single easiest position to fill. No way am I taking a chance on completely whiffing on a pick on a guy who won't play at all next year and may never play.

No one is similar to Adrian Peterson. No human, anyway.

He was probably expecting not to be drafted when he made the decision and just wants to be in an environment where he gets the best training and medical advice, he can focus on that full-time without worrying about some school BS, and he won't have a coach who sticks him back on the field because he really really wants to beat Clemson.

Has he already used his redshirt year?
