Kirk Ferentz's ears just started ringing, and he has no idea why.

There was talk a month or so ago that one of the reasons Ferentz's name had started coming up again in connection with NFL gigs was that unlike last time he flirted with the move, the Hawkeyes basically are no good and haven't been for a while so he was open to leaving.

    That sounds great.

"Hey, let's hire Ferentz. He's willing to make the move to the NFL because he can't win in college anymore."

    Brilliant.

Considering the number of schools that add a year to a contract with every bowl game/win, I'm surprised they don't agree to lop one off for every year without a bowl.

It can't be easy recruiting blue-chippers to Iowa.
And it got harder when Nebraska joined the conference.

From toiling in obscurity to ... Well, you know.
At least that 10-40 record comes to a crashing halt.

Hal Mumme leaves McMurry (was D-III when he got there, now trying to go D-II) to pursue other opportunities.

Does Leech bring his old boss to Pullman? Does Holgersen need a drinking buddy in Morgantown? Who gets put on probation first?

He may be a skunk of the highest order, but at least his teams were fun to watch.

Offensive coordinator at James Madison. Takes over for longtime OC Jeff Durden, who was fired a few weeks ago. Durden caught on as OC at Chattanooga.

God, I'd love to cover that team again, especially with Mickey and Hal on the same coaching staff. Good lord.
