Texas has all the money, and the pressure, that comes with The Longhorn Network.

I could see them sending Saban a blank check, knowing full well they'll get ROI, in the same way Arte Moreno vastly overpaid for Pujols -- knowing that the TV network would pay the contract's freight.

Spurrier only lasted two seasons, which was notable, not because he did poorly, but because he left with $15 million of guaranteed $$$ on the table.

ESPN will be pleading Texas to get a Saban-like name in there.

Big name coaches= Big time dollars

Probably only a matter of time until Gruden's name comes up. I tend to think he's eyeing the Jets job, but who knows?

Let Texas throw 8-10 million a year at Saban, then see if he leaves the Bama.

Bama would match in a heartbeat.

There have been a couple of mentions about Nebraska looking at Scott Frost. Isn't his coaching resume a bit thin at this point? He's had success in various assistant roles, but he has no HC experience and this is his first year as OC at Oregon.

I suppose, but Chip Kelly was only OC at Oregon two years before he took over. And Dabo Swinney was an AHC/WR coach before he got the Clemson job.

Nebraska should go for it. Hiring a popular alum for sentimental reasons regardless of experience almost always works out.

Like Mizzou said, if Texas throws $8-10 million a year at Saban, Bama will offer $10-12 million without blinking. A bidding war between Texas and Alabama would be highly entertaining, but Saban isn't leaving Tuscaloosa for a higher-paying college gig. Because there isn't one.
The only ways Saban leaves Alabama is to go back to the NFL (not going to happen since he's a punchline in that league); via retirement; or if his relationship with the school's administration sours (unlikely to happen as long as he's winning).

True, but Kelly had eight years being OC elsewhere, then took over the Oregon program where he had quickly gained his offensive guru reputation. This is Frost's first year ever as OC and he's maintaining an already proven system. Going to Nebraska would mean a new system. Add to it the high expectations based on past program success (including the success Frost himself had there as a player), that would be a lot of pressure for a first-time HC.
But the upside, as Jake pointed out, is the popular alum factor. Plus he's been able to learn from some big names.

The only wild card with Saban is if the DJ Fluker/Luther Davis thing blows up into a full-fledged NCAA investigation. That might get Saban to leave, though I don't know if that would come about by January.
