2012, the movie

It's when the Mayan long-count calendar ends. According to historians, Mayans considered making it to the end of a cycle something to be celebrated ... but who can get a doomsday prediction out of <i>that</i>?

 

According to the Mayan calendar, the world will end on 12-21-2012.

 

The Mayans also predicted the Florida Marlins would win the 2003 World Series, so you know they're good.

No, Cinco de Mayo.

Without those desecates those clothes will become notably musty within five years!

 

That prediction set up the rest of their predictions nicely.

 

Some of the street-level fronts of empty buildings in downtown Dallas have construction site facades for the Institute for Human Continuity. There's graffiti "spray painted" about the world ending in 2012. I couldn't find any photos on the interweb so I'll go take some and post them later.

So the world will end on my 31st birthday? Terrific. I better be sure to open my presents early in the day.

 

At least we can get 2013 calendars for cheap.
