Proof no. 34,404, courtesy of Cav, that cyclists are the truest hardmen in all of sports:

The stage leader at the Tour of California just had to put a put a foot down (like a motocross rider) on a steep descent to make a corner. I thought he was going into the trees.

Anyone planning on catching any of the Tour of California in person?

Nope, but I'm looking at a couple mountaintop finishes in Colorado in August. Just need to figure out if I can make it work with preseason football coverage in full swing.

I'm not one to buy pro kits, but Zabriskie's Captain America helmet and skinsuit in today's TT is pretty damn cool.

He designed that suit himself; he's a huge comic book geek.

Speaking of geeks, Frank Schleck and Rasmussen are engaging in a pretty fun twitter war today over at the Giro.

Who the heck runs this race, NASCAR? Sagan wins five of eight stages and doesn't even crack the top 10 in GC. There needs to be more bonuses for the sprinters or something. Although most stage races are decided in the mountains, this whole deal was decided on one day (or maybe two, counting the TT).
