I'd say go for it, Mad.

I know the answer, but just held off to give other people a chance to see the question without seeing the answer.

Go ahead and PM me, Madhavok. I'll put the answer on this thread in a few days.

And Hank, I'm not surprised you know this, based on your knowledge of all things MAC (hint, hint).

Coco, I'm SO sorry I didn't have my poll in. I had it done on my desktop waiting for last night's results. I have to leave for work early and wasn't able to send it before I left.

Since I was delinquent, I will post it here and take my lump.

    1. Oklahoma
    2. LSU – They were missing how many starters?
    3. Alabama – shaky on the line; shaky at QB; weak running game.
    4. Stanford
    5. Florida State
    6. Boise State
    7. Oklahoma State
    8. Texas A&M
    9. Wisconsin – Looked strong at QB.
    10. Virginia Tech -- Statement early.
    11. Oregon – Looked lost against top 5 competition
    12. Nebraska
    13. South Carolina
    14. Ohio State – Looks solid
    15. Arkansas
    16. Mississippi State – somewhat impressed
    17. Missouri – Jury’s out. Know more next week.
    19. Florida
    20. Penn State – Impressive opening; next week will tell.
    21. Texas
    22. Michigan State
    23. TCU – Drops, rocklike.
    24. Georgia -Uhga
    25. South Florida

You ranked Georgia? After that performance?

I guess upon further reflection, it was worse than I thought immediately after the game, when I did my poll work.

That's a nonsensical argument: keeping them absurdly high until they lose, then I'll rank them where they really belong?

I'm not saying you have to agree with my logic. I do it for the defending national champ only until they lose their first game. It's no different than people voting based on who they think will be better at the end of the year instead of what's happened or whatever wacky reasoning.

Look at the voting in the real poll this week — someone voted Michigan five spots in front of Baylor. Someone didn't rank Virginia Tech at all. Someone has South Florida 5th. Someone voted LSU 5th. Someone has South Carolina 6th. TWO people have Arkansas ranked 6th and someone doesn't have them ranked at all. Someone has Miss. State 8th. Three people put Notre Dame on their ballots but not South Florida

Wish I would have paid attention to last week's poll question. Colorado was an easy answer and the main reason the Buffs almost didn't renew their rivalry contract with Colorado State at Invesco.

Nobody's denying that poll logic is wildly divergent from voter to voter. And it's your ballot, you can do with it as you please. The distinction is (or should be) that the program is the reigning champion but the team isn't. The team is markedly different from last year. In essence, you're voting for last year's national champion uniforms and logo to be No. 1.
