Jake Locker of Washington is staying for his senior season.

As a huge Husky fan, I am stoked.

    Condotta has the info:

Given how often top QB prospects flame out, that's a smart decision, as long as he doesn't get hurt.

    Happy 3K!

And there was a pretty cool chart that I saw earlier in the Seattle Times to that effect:

I thought the buzz was that the rookie cap wouldn't happen for a couple more drafts, so underclassmen could stay in and still have a big payday after one more season?

I still think if you're draft eligible and a reasonably good shot at going in the first round, you go. If you get drafted late, that just means you land with a better team and the team can take some time and make you a better player rather than getting tossed into the fire right off the bat with a shitty team.

The long-term money for being on a great team is better as well.

With the No. 2 pick, the Detroit Lions select Sam Bradford.

If I was Locker it would have been hard for me to stay.

But the way I look at it, stay a year, get picked between 1-12 in 2011. Then you sign the initial contract, hope you can outlast that one and get the big money on the second contract.

This might be the first time in my life that the Lions weren't scraping the bottom of the quarterback barrel.

Next year, back to overhyped wide receivers.

Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver was the one who implied they would be interested in Tebow. That had to give David Garrard all kinds of warm fuzzies.

On Detroit sports radio today they were saying if the season ended today, the Lions would have the No. 4 pick.

Who has the misfortune of heading to Motown at No. 4?

The latest mock draft had Berry going second or third. I believe OU's Gerald McCoy was slotted at No. 4 right now.

Mock drafts, as much as I love them, are about as reliable and based in fact as recruiting reports, but I have to believe Suh goes No. 1, no matter who's picking. A dominant DT is arguably the most important player a team can draft. Even more than a franchise QB, most of which are doomed to never approach the hype.
