Just waiting to hear that Golden Tate is leaving as well. Those are going to be some big shoes to fill in South Bend.

Makes great sense for both of them to go. Another season wasn't going to help them much, and this is a big year moneywise for rookies.

I know 6-footer Drew Brees gives a lot of people hope in terms of what I'm about to bring up (though he ain't won anything, yet) . . . but I'd
be willing to bet plenty that Jimmy Clausen ain't the claimed 6-3.

He also had outstanding receivers that helped quite a bit this year. Claussen might be ok, but I'm not as sold on him as I am on Tate.

Clausen has a million-dollar arm, but I put the plus/minus at the second day of minicamp before an NFL veteran punches his lights out. You'll hear the name "Ryan Leaf" a lot between now and draft day.

I gotta say I don't get the "Clausen's an asshole" thing.

The four-ring announcement at the College HOF was an unmitigated disaster, granted, but since then he's gone through a freshman season where he was sacked endlessly --without complaints -- and has shown toughness and no sense of entitlement. If anything, he's boringly cliched in saying all the right things in interviews.
