Hello, Vegas?

Give me $1,000 on Junior winning the Bud Shootout and another grand on him sweeping the 500. NASCAR needs him more than he needs NASCAR, and the Frances know seeing 88 in victory lane twice in Daytona would cure a lot of ills.

I'll give you 10-to-1 on Junior in the 500. Not for a grand though.

I don't trust the ever-changing Bud Shootout rules enough to touch that one. For all I know, maybe cars with double-digit even numbers whose sum is 16 are now given the first position on all restarts.

So after hearing for months how Yates Racing was being gobbled up by Richard Petty Motorsports . . . hey, look who re-emerged and arranged an alliance and minority ownership with another team entirely today.

Most interesting thing thus far at Daytona media day . . . the champ calls out Sam Hornish Jr.:
“He hits waaay too much stuff,” Johnson said, “including me, at important times of the year. And has still today never said a word. I wish he’d just walk up to me and say, ‘Hey, I meant to crash you.’”

But didn’t another driver get Hornish loose in a three-wide situation or get into him?

Johnson wasn’t having any of it.

“Either way, wouldn’t you think that with what was on the line, you’d at least walk up to the guy and say, ‘Man, I hate it for you; it wasn’t my fault, somebody hit me,’” Johnson asked, somewhat incredulous. “But the guy just doesn’t talk. He doesn’t say anything.”
http://www.sbnation.com/2010/2/4/1292173/nascar-media-day-daytona

JP Montoya's wife is going have No. 3
Gordo's hottie is expecting baby No.2
Double J, Carl Edwards and Elliott Sadler are also soon to be parents.

As expected, Miccosukee Indians are out of NASCAR.

Lee failed to report that they were also lined up to sponsor Kyle Busch's new truck team. KyBu said today he has an alternate sponsor in place for Daytona. Guess he needs to think beyond that.
