Jenna Fryer, Bob Pockrass of SceneDaily and others reporting that 9 of the 10 Chase races will move from ABC over-the-air to ESPN this season. Only ABC races: second Bristol, second Richmond and second Charlotte.

President of NASCAR Media Group (not a press group, but a division of NASCAR): “This is exciting news for NASCAR and our fans.”

Somebody please tell me how this is exciting for NASCAR.

Does that mean IndyCar will have more races on ABC than NASCAR?

    I think so. Yes. http://www.indycar.com/multimedia/tv.php

Edit: Pockrass reporting that ESPN races' ratings went up 0.1 point last season while ABC races dropped 0.3 point. Also that the ESPN races had been getting higher ratings than the ABC races.

Because it means money for NASCAR, and nothing gives Brian France a woody quicker than someone forking over a lot of cash ...

Will the pre-race shows for races in the East air on ESPN2? NFL Countdown is not a good lead-in for NASCAR.

Well, it was a couple of years ago before ESPN lost the contract bidding the first time around. If anything, there's too much prerace programming.

The Miccosukee Indians are on the verge of pulling out of NASCAR, leaving Phoenix Racing (#09 Cup, #1 Nationwide) and Kyle Busch's new truck team without sponsors for the 2010 season.

I would laugh, but if that team doesn't race, that's just more people in NASCAR out of work.

Hearing about so many teams with no sponsors makes me have visions of NASCAR becoming like a ghost town. Tumbleweeds and all.
