The Cubs, after talking all spring about how they aren't the kind of stupid organization that would promote a kid like Starlin Castro too soon when he's clearly not ready for the big leagues, have promoted Starlin Castro.

Billy Beane is a gambler, not a sportsman.

Figgins is looking like one of the worst offseason acquisitions in either league.

Smells Like Desperation. I wonder if Josh Vitters will be up next week.

Shouldn't the Cubs be getting desperate? They're awful.

The Cubs are old and with overpaid stars in steep decline -- they should now start to be persuading themselves that it would be smart to be sellers around the deadline.

    Are you fucking kidding me?

Starlin Castro with a three-run opposite field dinger in his first MLB at-bat.

Brian McCann having eye trouble again (with the eye he DIDN'T have Lasik surgery on in the offseason) and Jason Heyward's groin injury might force him to the DL. I'm sure the Braves can live without them ...

    Castro also hit a three-run triple ... he's got 6 RBI total.

Michael Kay are you always so sure of yourself even when you may be wrong. He said Beckett crossed up Varitek so they should have the off scorer change it from PB to WP. How the F does he know if Varitek didn't make the mistake. most times it's the pitcher but with a guy on 2nd Varitek may have call fastball but thought he called curve.

Jamie Moyer just 2-hit the Atlanta Braves.

A mere 24 years after his first 2-hitter.
