Gotta agree with Mr. Friend O's mention of Little Feat. How one of the best-loved American bands of their time gets ignored is beyond me. I will also add one that Mr. Friend O' has brought up for consideration before: Roxy Music.

    Alice Cooper: Yes.
    Beastie Boys: Yes.
Bon Jovi: No, but they'll get in anyway.
Chic: The bassline from "Good Times" is good and all, but no.
    Neil Diamond: No.
    Donovan: Yes.
    Dr. John: Leaning towards no.
    J. Geils Band: I don't mind them, but no.
    LL Cool J: Yes.
    Darlene Love: Yes.
Laura Nyro: I'm not sure what she did besides writing "Wedding Bell Blues"...No.
Donna Summer: I guess, why not just nominate Giorgio Morodor instead?
    Joe Tex: No.
    Tom Waits: Yes.
Chuck Willis: I actually had to look up who this was.

    Mr Z-man

Yeah, Koufax was good and all. LL Cool J in and Chic no ... can't see it on body of work and influence.

I saw Dr John with Clarence Gatemouth Brown years back. Great show. Dr J had me until he did the theme song for Blossom ... okay, I sorta like that too. In.

Tom Waits ... since the Heart of Saturday Night, he defeats me.

But what say you re Zevon? And Little Feat?

    YHS, etc

A lot of these acts are eventually going to get in over the next decade or so, as the semi-decline and eventual near-disappearance of "album rock" as a genre in the 1990s works its way through the eligibility window. The "Veterans Committee" will be working overtime.

Southern Rock don't need Jann around anyhow.

Yeah, the genres which have been pissed on by the Wenner mafia will probably get a lot of the "veterans' committtee" nods as Wenner (64 years old) fades out of the process.

Although that might take another decade or so, and whoever takes over steering the process will almost certainly be a Wenner acolyte.

Everybody loves to gripe about stuff like that, but honestly, if you go through the list of artists who are in the hall you'll realize they've largely gotten it right.

Southern rock? Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers and ZZ Top are all in. You got a long list of southern rock legends that have been snubbed? Who, Molly Hatchet?

    No.

Specifically, The Marshall Tucker Band and the Charlie Daniels Band.

Charlie's gone 'round the bend and is stereotyped by a song or two, but if you look at his catalog he has more depth than people give him credit for.

Ever give a listen to "F.B.I." from the live album Hunter did with Ronson backing? Love that song.

    Mr B,

Awful that they're not in. I had a short stop-over in London on a European flight last year and if I had stretched it a day I could have gone to the MtH reunion show. Ian Hunter is 70.

Another flaw: World music isn't really represented (King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti, Os Mutantes). Then again, I'm still baffled by how Leonard Cohen even gets in discussion (and not Zevon, etc). Same conversation every year.

Aren't Guns N Roses eligible next year?
