I'd say we're less than 25-30 years away because there is no rock 'n roll as a designation anymore. The inclusion of rap, R&B, disco, country, folk, etc. have changed it from rock 'n roll to just a term for popular music.

As for the importance of this Hall of Fame 150 years from now, it might be completely meaningless. We have become obsessed with pop culture over the past 20 years. People have attributed a strange importance to it.
In the future, that might not be true anymore.

    Alice Cooper: Overdue
Beastie Boys: A shoo-in. Way influential on the course of the past 30 years of rock.
Bon Jovi: Probably makes it, but I hope not.
Chic: Top practitioners of a fad, but no.
    Neil Diamond: Overdue
    Donovan: Huh?
    Dr. John: No
    J. Geils Band: Don't think so.
LL Cool J: Wouldn't object, but don't think so
Darlene Love: No; product of Spector
Laura Nyro: Should make it; created the singer-songwriter genre
Donna Summer: No; product of engineers for the most part.
    Joe Tex: Huh?
Tom Waits: Sooo overrated, but will make it the way Leonard Cohen did.
    Chuck Willis: Who?

And Abba and Kiss are mega overdue

But it's spelled "SlyFox" to save space, right?

Nah, just "Sl" and it's a skinny "s" at that.

Did you hear about the time BYH went to a nude beach? He saw a guy walk past and noticed that guy has a "SlyFox" tattoo on his penis too.

BYH goes up to him and said, "Hey, I'm sorry but I noticed you've got a SlyFox tattoo on your penis just like mine. What are the odds?"

The other dude smiled and said, "Actually, my tattoo is 'Sly and the Family Stone rox.'"

This thread has been much more comedic than hateful. A good sign.

And thank you, committee, for getting it right on Rush again.

    Sirs, Madames,

No Zevon. No Little Feat. No Television (I think). Laura effin Nyro.

The Hall holds no interest for me.

I think you're all giving short shrift to Chic. In terms of musicianship the tighest drum and bass and without Rodgers and Edwards Grandmaster Flash would be up there humming.

I like Joe Tex. And Sam the Sham. And ? and the Mysterians. But they're sort of Vada Pinson to me.

    YHS, etc
