A Blackhawks win today and they get the 5th seed (tied for 4th).

A Blackhawks regulation loss and a Dallas non-SO win, and Chicago is 9th on the tiebreakers.

    Crazy.

Panthers fire Pete DeBoer. I like Pete a lot, but a wiseguy might say the reason he couldn't succeed in Florida is that the NHL, unlike the OHL, has a salary cap.

Canucks might be playing Hawks in the first round.

Man I hope so. But Dallas has been unstoppable lately when they need to be.

Stars and Wild tied 3-3 at second intermission.

Remember, the Stars have to win in regulation or overtime. If it goes to a shootout or the Stars lose, the Blackhawks are in.

Do not be alarmed. the loud beeping noise you hear is just the Blackhawks backing into the playoffs.

A link on Lemaire, since Derwood only likes to post three-word news briefs.

Surprised Lemaire decided to stay retired given the way the Devils responded to him.

Not surprised at all that DeBoer was canned. Now ... does he go back to junior hockey or does one of his good friends - like Carolina coach Paul Maurice - try to talk his organization into offering him a role of some sort?
