This sucks. Hockey is the only reason I watch CBC. They know how to do it right.

OK, i'm entering into dangerous territory here but I'm a huge fan of CBC.

Rick Mercer. The Hour. The Fifth Estate. CBC News.

And my favourite show about your original neck of the woods, "Land & Sea"

Oh, and one of their best shows ever, cancelled after two seasons, "The Tournament"

I wonder how well the Canucks will do as favorites. Calgary won't be able to overcome Chicago's home ice advantage.

"Power Play," on CTV, was better. :)

As for the schedule, why do you need to see hockey on Saturday? They play hockey every night of the week now! [/mark2010]

And TSN gets the Calgary series instead of CBC. A first for the cable net, getting a series with a Canadian team.

    Or the Blackhawks speed.

    Chicago in 5.

It's still the Wings' Cup to lose. For all the questions about the goaltending, they finished second in the league this year. They won the Cup last year with Osgood; and they may have gotten a break with a first round matchup against a Columbus team that is making its first Cup appearance and playing in front of a rookie goalie. The Jackets will be in awe of the Wings and go down in five; and the Wings will have that traditional slow start to their playoffs out of the way.
Signing Franzen now indicates to the group that the core of the team will be looked after as long as they work hard and win. And I think the Wings will give Detroit something to rally around and Illitch and the management team will be serious about using that as a motivator for the team.
They're still the team to beat until somebody beats them.

Eh ... I may watch it on WGN.

    Pends on Khabibulin. Maybe six.

Will WGN be showing the series? I didn't think local TV stations stayed on for the playoffs.
If they do great. The few times I was able to catch a game on WGN I was very surprised at how well it was done, especially considering this is their first year doing hockey. Mind you there baseball and basketball coverage is generally pretty good, but hockey is a horse of another colour to cover.

Winner of Sharks vs. Ducks is going to have loads of momentum.

If Ducks can take it to 6, I can go to that game. Sweet.
