2009 music events

So I get to start a music blog for my library's new website debuting in January which will tie into displays in the library promoting CDs we own in order to increase circulation.

I'm trying to plan ahead for a few months so we can have good props, signage, etc.

If anyone knows of any big music events for 2009 for me to blog abut (sorry, BYH, Night Ranger tours do not count), let me know!

Here's what I do have on tap:

* Grammies in February
* South by Southwest in mid-March
* Rock Hall induction at the beginning of April
* Dove Awards (gospel music) at the end of April

Also plan to do a summer music tour preview of bands coming to the area, occasional bestseller lists, and What's In Your MP3 Player? Got other good ideas, drop 'em!

Bama Jam Music Festival -- June 4-6, 2009

Jazzfest is held on two consecutive weekends. The 2009 dates are April 24-26 and April 30-May 3.

32nd Annual Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival, Sept. 19, Greenville, Miss.

Bonnarroo in Manchester, Tenn., and Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga were in June this year, not sure about 2009.

AthFest is June 25-28 in Athens, Ga.

Or the Newport Jazz Festival the next weekend.
Newport gets pretty adventurous, and isn't afraid to bend genres. For example, in '05, the folk festival was headlined by the Pixies performing an acoustic show (if only I hadn't made vacation plans out of town already)...it's on DVD.
The next weekend, Elvis Costello headlined the jazz festival (and Di did not appear with him) with a pretty blues-centric set.
