Game 1 will be the first World Series game played on artificial turf since 1993.

Obviously the Rays have the advantage given the home-field, but I wouldn't count out the Phils. They're a hard hitting team who can play AL baseball and already have a natural DH in Matt Stairs (or Gregg Dobbs, for that matter). Their pen's nasty, and I think their pitching matches up. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go 7.

Rain forecast in Philly next weekend, per Weather Underground. Forty percent Saturday, 30 percent Sunday.

TB -155 in the World Series.

That means they are 1½:1 favorites to win.

Phinally we will have our parade down broad street...Phils in 6. The fact that game 1 and 2 start in tampa is actually perfect for the phils. Myers and Hamels can go REAL deep into games because of the terrible DH rule. Plus, when Burrell comes out for a defensive replacement we can doubleswitch him to the DH, thusly never losing his bat.

They were 50-to-1 to win their division seven months ago.

As someone who went to his share of games at the Trop when they couldn't give the tickets away, I still can't believe it.

If the starting DH is moved to a field position as a substitute, then the pitcher must bat in the spot vacated by the departed fielder. You can't move a DH to a field position and have that fielder take the DH spot.

And "thusly" is not a word.

    Predictions:

    (Devil) Rays in six.

Game One will bring proclamations of how glad people are that the Yanks or BoSox aren't there.

At least two games will be slugfests, on the order of 13-11, 9-7.

The Rays' pen will blow at least one save.

    Lidge will blow a save.

BYH will type one-handed every time the Rays score, thus also helping Kleenex stock spike greatly in the coming days.

outofplace will not be able to resist responding to BYH with something along the lines of "YOU can't let it go!!!!'

Media attention to how Rays pitchers will bat, and WHO the DH will be for Philly, will be excessive.

Upton will be Series MVP. And some will wonder aloud if the Rays will be able to afford to keep him for his entire career, while others point to the Series victory itself as proof that baseball rules over the entire known universe.

And all of it will be a welcome respite from election talk.

Not exactly what our fanboi friend was saying, but you're still right. He's suggesting they double-switch, inserting someone for Burrell in the field, batting in the DH spot, and moving Burrell to DH. Can't do that either.
