I'm just glad I'm not the only one with the Utes on top.

Final poll, with movement from Week 15:

    1. Texas -
    2. Florida -
    3. USC +2
    4. Utah +4
    5. Oklahoma -3
    6. Alabama -2
    7. Penn State -1
    8. TCU +4
    9. Ohio State -
    10. Texas Tech -3
    11. Oregon +3
    12. Boise State -1
    13. Virginia Tech +9
    14. Georgia +6
    15. Cincinnati -2
    16. Oklahoma State -6
    17. Oregon State +2
    18. Michigan State -3
    19. Mississippi +4
    20. Missouri +5
    21. Northwestern -3
    22. Pittsburgh -
    23. Ball State -2
    24. Georgia Tech -8
    25. BYU -8

I will admit that I am strongly, strongly opposed to leapfrogging a No. 1 team if they win their bowl game and do everything they're supposed to do. (If you know where my FBC loyalties lie, you know why.)

Texas did that, against a strong top-10 opponent. Florida looked impressive in beating Oklahoma, but I thought the Sooners outplayed them for the first half tonight until the Gators just put them away at the end. That win wasn't strong enough for me to change my mind.

Now, Florida might have had a better win or two than Texas -- beating six AP top-25 teams, including Nos. 1 and 2 in consecutive games. But three of those six are now out of my final top 25, so I don't think their strength of schedule gives them much of an edge over Texas, which beat four AP top-25 teams, including a No. 1 on neutral ground, all of whom are still ranked in my final top 25. The 'Horns, however, also had a far better loss, losing to my No. 10 team on the road, while Florida lost to my No. 19 team at home.

So, for all those reasons, I can't bring myself to leapfrog Florida over Texas. The Longhorns are my national champion.

    Congratulations, Texas.

And thank you, Slappy. Tremendous job, as always.

    > I really wanted to put Utah at No. 1 but ... I just couldn't. Early on, I was putting Florida at No. 1 back when few others were because I felt they were the best team in college football. And, today, I think they're still the best team.
    > If WVU hadn't won its bowl game, they'd been on the outside looking in.

    Thanks Slap.
I know you're putting this together in 'Bama boxers, with your wife's JP Wilson jersey on and I appreciate all your hard work.

I had fun, but knowing the end result will be an undefeated team NOT being No. 1 sure puts a taint on things.

    (Sigh) I did my part.

    Here it is.

    1. Utah ... The rightful No 1.
No the Utes are not quarterbacked by the son of God and quite possibly the greatest American creation since Superman, but the Utes are the nation's only UNDEFEATED football team.
    2. USC .. If Only...
    3. Florida. Close. Oh so Close.
    4. Texas ... ugh. Man is the Big XII overrated... Whoda thunk it?
    5. Penn State .. Big Ten REPRESENTING! Can I get a "Woof!"
    6. Oklahoma ... See Texas ..
    7. TCU .. Nice D
    8. Ohio State ... See Penn State
    9. Alabama ... Nick Saban genius. JP Wilson average joe.
    10. Boise St.
    11. Oregon
    12. Ole Miss... Holy Hell ...
    13. Texas Tech .. Oh how I wanted to believe.
    14. Georgia .. The Texas of the SEC
    15. Va. Tech ... Beamer Ball bitches!
    16. Oregon St. .. 3-0? You ought to be ashamed of yourselves!
    17. Cincinnati
    18. BYU ... Mormons rock!
    19. Iowa ...
    20. WVU .. Ranking by attrition
    21. Ok. St. Take it like a man. You. Suck.
    22. Boston College ... Quality wins. Your AD is kind of a dick though.
    23. FSU ... Galls me to write this.
    24. Mich. St. Why not.
    25. Cal. .. Why Not redux

Out: Ga. Tech... Uh, huh. No way do you make after getting hammered by no-qb-having LSU!
    Mizzou... Oh Hell-to-the-No!
    Pitt.. Ha Ha!
Neb. NO. No. No. No and No.
Northwestern... See Neb... Though you were close to making the cut.
Ball State ... Errrrrrrrrrr. But Thanks for Playing.
Rutgers... Hey Greg, PSU called and said congratulations. Enjoy Jersey!

I wouldn't laugh too hard. You might not like his pick for No. 1, but at least his picks for No. 8 AND No. 11 weren't Boise State.

Jesus Fuck, people... that's three out of the first 14 I've processed...
