Who's dumber? Gallardo for wanting to stay in or Yost for letting him?

I vote for Uncle Nedley. Dumber. Than. A. Bag. Of. Hammers.

Ash also said team physician William Raasch said no further damage was done to the knee when Gallardo stayed in the game Thursday in Chicago and pitched another inning. Gallardo injured the knee trying to avoid a collision with the Cubs' Reed Johnson at first base on a bunt play but shook it off and stayed in the game.

"Dr. Raasch said there was no evidence of further trauma," said Ash. "I specifically asked Dr. Raasch that question. He was quite clear that he didn't believe it was an issue (that Gallardo pitched another inning). It wouldn't have changed anything in terms of what we know today."

I like the part where Ash specificially asked Raasch if keeping Gallardo in the game would've caused the injury to worsen ... Methinks if it did, Yost and/or the trainer would be in some deep shit today with upper management.

How does Jeffrey Leonard tie into it?

Fun Jeffrey Leonard story though. As a little kid I won a trivia contest on the radio and had a bunch of baseball videos sent to me. One was a blooper video where the announce said they'd do something "just as soon as Jeffrey Leonard hits into a 6-4-3 double play." He's then silent for the pitch, Leonard swings and all the announce has to say is "6...4...3." And then started laughing his ass off.

    So did I.
