Read an interesting piece on the salary cap by Bob McKenzie. Apparently, the performance bonus cushions have been removed, pushing teams closer to the cap.

Right now Nashville needs every warm body it can find at forward. Unless there is decent potential firepower offered in trade, I think David Poile will magically find forgiveness in his heart.

If the cap goes down next year and it affects a number of teams that were going to spend money, well, it means that those teams have to figure out what they need and what they want.

And I'm sure you'll be happy, Flash, the Hitmen won tonight to open the season 5-3 over the Rebels.

And Brampton lost 4-2 to Ottawa.

67's scored ten seconds into the game.

All tied up at 2 each until Ottawa scored two goals in the last thirty seconds of the second, including one at 19:59

    Not an auspicious beginning.

Rebels were actually winning 2-0 after 20 minutes, then Calgary scored four power play goals in the second period.

Sounds like it was a small crowd at the Dome tonight. The summary said there were less than 6,000 people in attendance which for the Hitmen is abnormally small, especially for a home opener with no NHL competition.

Watching Senators-Rangers preseason game from Kanata. Michael Del Zotto dressed for the Rangers. He lost 20 pounds, down to 188.
