Yeah. They do have Dustin Tokarski waiting in the wings, should be in camp this fall.

Osgood only won two cups as a starter

    1997 and 2008.

In 1998, Mike Vernon was the starter. Osgood rode the pine.

And yes, I would vote him in.

Holy St. Jude, Batman!! TSN's Darren Dreger is reporting that the Flyers are in talks with Ray Emery for him to be their goaltender next season. Biron is a UFA.

At least they're maintaining their long established tradition of signing useless goalies.

FYI -- For anyone who has covered hockey lifer and former Leafs coach John Brophy, I got this e-mail from a mutual friend:

    * John's vision has significantly deteriorated in recent months
    * He is not able to walk well.
    * He is no longer married in fact if not in legal terms
    * He lives alone in Nova Scotia
    * He tells his friends up there that he just wants to be left alone.
    * There is no word as to what he is doing.
    * There is no word as to his future plans.

    Crap. That sucks.

I was worried that Broph was going to be kinda like Bear Bryant ... the sort who needed to keep going. He was more helpful to this little punk than he knew ... cantankerous and stubborn at times, but he knew when to be such and when to answer the question a bit more straight.

In the right organization with the proper leadership Emery could really excel. His last year in Ottawa was a wash, but until then his numbers were great. The Sens playoff failings were not on him, in fact he actually got them over the hump and into the finals. And despite his one well publicised incident with the equiment manager this year over wearing a hat, I believe his numbers were again top notch.
Again, right team, right leadership and he will do well. Not sure if phily is that team. Detroit would be for sure.

Hey Mark still think the Canucks should have kept him.

A shame about Brophy. A colourful guy, a little cantankerous, but once you got past that grouchy, gruff veneer, he was a good guy. Competitive as hell. And tough as nails.

His production dropped every season since his pearson award season in 02-03. Good player at his peak, but neither he or Bertuzzi have been the same since the steve moore incident.

Neither has Steve Moore. Go figure.
