I have a hard time thinking Manny's going anywhere other than the Yankees.

    Re: Baseball News Thread

Does he become the wrong guy when the Mets go after and sign him, or is he the wrong guy long before?
Cause I could see how K-Rod could potentially turn into that guy.
When Billy Wagner joined the Bums in 2006, he pitched in 72 innings in 6 fewer games than K-Rod this year.
K-Rod only pitched in 68 innings this season even though he pitched in the most games of his career.
Not a huge difference, perhaps, but with the shape the Mets' pen is, they'd be relying on him much more than the Angels did.
He'd probably need to pitch at least 80 innings if he was healthy the whole year.

That is part of why the Mets can't just add a closer. They need to pick up at least one more middle reliever as well to help them get to whoever ends up closing games for them.

    - I think Manny will decide between 3/$75 million from LA and 4/$100 from Toronto.

    - Mets will overpay for K-Rod, and make no other really big moves.

    That's not a prediction. That's a certainty.

He's a fucking stud with a favorable contract, but I don't get the Braves trading for Peavy.

They'd probably have to give up Jordan Schafer and Tommy Hanson -- possibly more -- and it's not like the move suddenly turns them into playoff contenders.

Also, would anyone be crazy enough to give Ollie Perez big money?

I'd love to see him with the Cubs, just to see how long it takes Piniella's head to explode.

Mike Cameron to the Yankees? Oh, the fans there would love his next 0-for-40 slump.

I agree it's unrealistic, I just think any team that goes above 2 years is crazy.
