    Dallas? DALLAS?

    Well, welcome to my backyard!

I'll host the SportsJournalists.com Conservative Gala and Liberal Roast at Billy Bob's, on the left side of the Metroplex so Fenian and the boys can feel more comfortable. Beer's on me.

Could the SportsJournalists.com Bund please keep their gathering seperate from the main SportsJournalists.com gathering? I wouldn't piss on Yawn if he was on fire, much less drink his beer.

I definitely want to try and make this trip. If I can convince RAllen13, we might make this a father-son trip.

Billy Bob's sucks anway, although its size makes it a decent option if the gathering ends up being large. I'm partial to Rick's on the Bricks, although the bar area is pretty small. Irritatingly, they don't have Shiner on tap any more. But they still have fried pickles.

Any DFW types know if Smacko's is still in Arlington?

So, would the SportsJournalists.com hotel be in Arlington, near the ballpark that took 10 years to get a name, Dallas or elsewhere?

There are some very historic skank-ho motels on Division Street in Arlington not too far from The Field Formerly Known as the Ballpark. Right near the titty bars where Billy Martin got his ass beaten by rednecks on a semi-regular basis from 1974-75.

I want to get my ass kicked at the same titty bar Billy Martin did!

Wait, a Texas bar that doesn't have Shiner on tap? What kind of commie operation are they running?

The titty bar was known as "Lace" for a long time, don't know if that's still its moniker or if the dubious establishment is still there. Could be an unaffiliated Bible church in that building now, for all I know.

RIP Billy. I think his widow still lives in Arlington.

As far as Shiner goes, the reverence for Shiner is more of a Central Texas thing. You couldn't even get it in North Texas until the mid-90s.

Is it the kind of joint where a guy can get a tug in the parking lot?

I'm asking for a friend of mine.
