Not sure which of these are technically singles or were released in 2006, but they debuted to my ears this year, so that's what we're going for. In no particular order:

"Satellite" -- Guster (my no. 1 song)
    "Square One" -- Tom Petty
"Nothing In My Way" -- Keane
    "Dani California" -- RHCP
    "Breathe Me" -- Sia
    "Funeral Music" -- Tim Seely
"My Morning Scene" -- Jonah Smith
    "Remain Silent" -- Keb' Mo'
"They Can't Buy The Sunshine" -- Turin Brakes (currently in my sig)
"Honey Child What Can I Do" -- Isobel Campbell
    "Jackson Square" -- Mason Jennings
"What If I Do?" -- Foo Fighters
"I Will Follow You Into The Dark" -- Death Cab For Cutie

more to come when I think of more

I'd like to throw "I will Follow you into the dark" by Death Cab for Cutie out there. Beautiful.

Good call, I forgot that came out this year.

(in self-defense for the emo-haters, with whom I normally align myself: I like the song because I first heard it on a ytmnd site where it was played during the last scene of the dog episode of Futurama)

    Is It Any Wonder.

Yeah, the Keane boys have done some good work this year.

The Raconteurs - Steady As She Goes
Blue October - Hate Me (opened me up to all their older stuff, which easily blows away their last album)
10 Years - Through the Iris
She Wants Revenge - These Things
    Army of Anyone - Goodbye
Lil' Jon - Snap Yo Fingers
    Nelly w/Paul Wall - Grillz

And the guilty pleasure of the year:
    Rihanna - S.O.S.

When you were young -- the killers
    Diamonds -- los lonely boys
This is us -- Mark Knopler and Emmylou haris
Open your eyes -- snow patrol
    Love and memories -- O.A.R.
Black horse and the cherry tree -- K.T. tunstall

No offense, fj, but K.T. Tunstall makes me want to poke at my eardrums with an ice pick. ;)

The Rapture - Whoo! Alright, Yeah...Uh Huh.

  10. "Voodoo Child" by Rogue Traders was a great single as was "Dickhead" by Robbie Williams.

  11. There was a great Ray Wylie Hubbard track I heard on an alt-rock show in Tennessee earlier this year, dammit, and I can't remember the title. Help, pls?
