    Henry Surtees loses his life in an F2 race....

    Video isn't graphic, just unbelievable....

    Really sad. Strange when you consider his dad was world champion in an era when racing was significantly more dangerous than it is now.

    As much as safety has improved, though, this is one hazard that is really hard to prevent. Those cars have wheel tethers but they can't always hold in a really hard, direct impact.

    Hadn't heard of this happening since Roberto Guerrero. It didn't kill him, but affected him mentally. Did he ever fully recover?

    He was back in an Indycar six months later, but aside from a freak pole at the 500 in the mid 90s he never really returned to his pre-wreck form... A lot of this had to do with the teams he raced for, though.
