141st Kentucky Derby

    Can't recall how many times I've been to the Derby; eight or 10, I'd guess. I wouldn't go back unless I had press credentials. The ground-level view from the grandstand was awful.
    I've been to the Derby several times, but the worst experience was the year we went to the trouble to get reserved seats. Yeah, it was great to be comfortable all day long, but all through the stretch you're trying to look through 25,000 heads (and those damn hats) sitting between you and the track. Press credentials are the way to go.

    He was the best horse, but a final quarter-mile in 26.5 seconds . . . ouch, half of the drunken infield could have gone faster.
