    Rooting interest, in order:
    Indiana University (alma mater)
Boston Bruins (hockey is my favorite sport, and family from Boston raised me on them)
Chicago Cubs (grew up with WGN, and grandparents who were Cubs fans).

I've followed the hometown Indianapolis Colts since they moved in 1984, and grew up a big fan, although having covered the team for the 9 years I was in newspapers has kept my rooting interest pretty casual. I don't follow the NBA, nor the local Pacers, at all.

Was also a Red Sox fan for much of my growing-up years (the old "root for one NL and one AL team"), but having a wife & kid plus a rather intense work schedule have forced me to reduce the teams I can realistically follow. I also got into the Columbus Crew during the early years of MLS, but when I got rid of cable 10 years ago, I lost touch with the sport.

The only pro team I follow with any fervor is the Dallas Stars. I'm a casual fan of the Texas Rangers and San Antonio Spurs but I don't get too worked up about them one way or the other.

I'll watch the Cowboys or Mavericks, but only because I know more about those teams than the other teams in the NFL and NBA.

There are a lot more teams I actively root against than I root for, actually. I don't know what that says about be...

Well, when I lived in New York:
    Buffalo Bills
    Buffalo Sabres

No other professional sports in the other two, but I've become fans of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers.

My new place of residence (not fans of the teams whatsoever)
    Denver Nuggets
    Colorado Rockies
    Colorado Avalanche
    Denver Broncos

    UGA and anyone playing Florida.
    Braves
    Falcons
I could care less about the NBA or NHL, but if forced to choose a team to root for, I'd stick with the locals.

I will pick up UNC if no one else has. And ,LSU in football.

I see the braves and colts are covered. No real nhl team. And the same for the NBA.

Agreed as well. Now that I'm "out" of sports, I only make time for...

    - my beloved college football conferences: Big XII, Big Ten, Pac Ten, SEC, Mountain West.
    - NFC North football, some AFC West
    - NBA playoffs
    - Watching Little League baseball with my son, who is obsessed with it this summer...and whatever baseball team he likes in a given year. The A's, for some reason, this time.

    That's it.
