Every time someone just references "Birdman" invading the trophy presentation, I think about Chris Andersen getting hopped up on something and somehow winding up getting arrested at the U.S. Open. Which, let's be fair, doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.

Golf doesn't need to lighten up. The decorum and tradition of civilized behavior at golf tournaments are examples that could be adopted by other sports. Security took care of it, they did their job. I was mocking the comment of how lucky he was he didn't do it at Augusta. Now go hide in your gated community Hondo, where the black man can't get you.

Security took care of it? The guy stood there for 2-3 seconds (an eternity) chirping. Look at some of the pictures, there are USGA blue blazers in the background who aren't moving an inch. Mike Davis had to grab the guy, for chrissakes.

That's pretty bad that a fairly small area couldn't be secured for a 10-minute trophy presentation -- especially from an obvious doofus.

My original comparison to Augusta was that security there knows what the heck they're doing. I don't think much of the USGA in this spot.

There was more than enough time for that guy to open up on the crowd or the winner right behind him, if he had a gun and his intention was to cause harm. Does anyone doubt there are looneys like that out there?
This shouldn't be treated as some harmless prank.
Chill out JC. Golf's history with minorities and women certainly isn't something for the sport to be proud of. But the traditions of conduct for fans and competitors during tournaments certainly could be emulated by other sports.

I don't know about this year. Last year at Congressional, you had to go through a metal detection before you got on a shuttle bus from the public parking areas.
