    And while safety conditions have obviously improved, it's a shame that it took an incident like this to prove that unchecked capitalism without regulations doesn't work.

    And it's a shame that, a century later, people are still questioning the value of unions. Yeah, they go overboard sometimes, like everyone else. But anyone who doesn't think they have some value should be reminded of tragedies like this, every day.

    Who needs unions anymore when all the manufacturing jobs are leaving the country?
