Was thinking about this in church this morning; not seeing a parallel, just happened to be where I thought of it...

    1. Overtime is much cleaner
    2. There is no "am I going to retire or play one more year?"
    3. Two words: Jerry Jones
    4. NFL dictates a dress code for sideline personnel -- what you can where and who can wear it. God forbid a coach wears a tie because it might offend Reebok.
    5. You can pick on SEC fanbois for blind allegiance; when was the last time you did the same for the AFC South?
    6. Come on... 40 minute halftime show for the Super Bowl?
    7. The NFL is all about corporate sponsorships. College football is too, but the money and the groveling is relative chump change when it involves a dictator like...
    8. Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones without the accent and the dumb son who wants to be a GM.
    9. College football's biggest controversy is which league is better and why the BCS sucks. Pro football's biggest controversy is walkouts and salary caps.
    10. Chris Berman's not on College Gameday. and that's how the fight started
  2. Really? There's PLENTY of that in college football.

Funny - back in the day I would have not wanted Brett Musberger but he has grown on me as part of the big game college football day.

    College football: "The Blind Side."

    NFL: "Any Given Sunday."

Regarding #3, I would take Jerry Jones and is in-your-face cockiness any day of the week over the behind-your-back thievery of Saban, Carroll, Meyer et al., who throw in the added bonus of spewing their bullshit that they are molding young men.

My biggest beef with pro football is how corporate it is. Today's game will be played in a stadium that has had (at least) four different names.
The regular NFL season bores me until November.

But I'll take the Super Bowl and the playoffs over the BCS any day of the week. College football creates its own reality.

I'll take NFL. It's not a private cartel.

Regular season: College > NFL, but it's close.
Playoffs/Bowls: NFL > College, and it's not even close.

It's not? Who are you kidding?

    Why college is better:
    1. No salary cap
    2. No Steelers fans
    3. Slappy's SJ poll
    4. No Berman
    5. No Joe Buck
    6. Easy to make fun of SEC fanboiloosers
    7. Boise's Smurf Turf
    8. No Dan Snyder
    9. No Jon Gruden
    10. Tim Tebow

I could care less about the Super Bowl. Have never had a rooting interest in my lifetime. That's the No. 1 reason NCAA football is better. For me at least.

Oh the bands are cool and the traditions too.
