10 HRs in a game ... 4 in one half inning

Just thought I would share this blog post I just did about a State Tournament game I covered on Saturday. Arkansas Baptist and Piggott set the new state record for HRs in a single game with 10. Piggott hit 4 in the bottom of the sixth inning alone to tie the game.

Both of these schools have really solid baseball programs, though they are 3A. Has anyone else ever witnessed something as ridiculous as this?

I remember a game in 1987 when the Toronto Blue Jays hit 10 home runs against the Orioles. I think that's still the major league record for one team in a game. Ernie Whitt had three of them.

A prep team here in N.C. (Union Pines) hit 11 in one game last month.

Set a new state record is redundant. [/grumpycopyeditor]

Just think, you could have been covering a 48-47 softball game.
