It's cuz most NFL games are crap, despite what they want to tell you.

What's so bad about the Pittsburgh-Miami game tonight?

Paying twice as much for a package of games inferior to another prime time broadcast. Does ESPN have to pay double so they can use the name NFL Countdown, NFL Live? Or is it that the NFL is playing hardball with how many game highlights can be shown by non rights-holders, forcing ESPN to pay the bounty?

ESPN gets paid per subscriber, for every cable and satellite subscriber. A significant amount.

There are a ton of factors which go into ESPN's decision to carry MNF, most of which I know nothing about. I do know it's much more than just the $ they are paying the NFL and the lack of marquee matchups.

Well at least they'll have 99.8 percent of the always coveted Pittsburgh-eastern Ohio-panhandle of West Virginia market. Except when the powerball drawing is on.

Ricky's starting. He'll be huffing and, ahem, puffing by the fourth quarter.

It stopped being relevant as soon as it left ABC. If they'd at least had Mike Patrick as the play-by-play guy, I'd try to watch. But Mike Tirico? Fuhgedaboutit.

People in past years had complained about Monday Night matchups when ABC had the game.

When ABC had the contract, it was always a Top 20 show. Not only that, but they got a Super Bowl every three or four years so they could get a big pay day and promotional opportunities for their shows.

Exactly. The outcry from fans locked in to flights based on when a game would start and finish would be loud, but then, the NFL is listening less and less to the fans these days. The idea of having a Super Bowl overseas being a great example.
