    if i ever bought a chain of newspapers, i'd name my company CNRC and then name dyepack vice president.

    BTW - where in the heck has jelloneck been? i kinda miss him.

    The one time I actually like to use a recorder is for a gamer on deadline. The interviews usually aren't more than a couple minutes long, so it's not too hard to transcribe. It's fresh enough in my head that I can remember the important stuff I want to use. As long as you or your subject aren't rambling for 20 minutes, you're fine. Just leave spaces for it in the story and add them when you're done writing the rest of it.
    That said, it's never a bad idea to use both. It's bad times when you get back to the office and realize the batteries were dead, you got too much background noise to hear everything, etc.
