Contacting a former NFL player?

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Aug 1, 2006.

  1. Does anyone have any experience with contacting a recently-retired NFL player or his agent?
Do I go through the NFLPA?
I tried his last team, but I haver gotten no response from the media department. Maybe they are at football camp.
Any ideas on the best way to proceed?

His college's SID office of his high school coach may work.

  3. I'm not having much luck, though I did find out that his agent is Vann McElroy. Former NFL team wasn't much help. NFLPA has returned my calls.
Does anyone have a contact number for McElroy?

If you spent 30 seconds doing a Google search, you would find this out:

Well, I wanted to confirm that he STILL worked there, not just worked there at one time. :)

If he's a local guy, try hitting up a relative or former coach for a phone number. If that doesn't work, open the phone book and start with 'A'. Work your way around the country from Caribou, Maine to Seattle. You're bound to find him sooner or later.

Forget the SID/coach thing. Call the school's alumni office. Just say you are trying to reach so and so.
You'd be amazed how often that works.
