Sports Editor, Lima (OH) News

    what major cities are near here?

    Fort Wayne, Toledo, Dayton and Columbus are about 1-2 hours away in different directions, but there are no "big" cities "near" by.
     
  3. Detroit, Cleveland and Cincinnati are in the 2-3 hour range.
     
  4. Good looking sports section. SE should expect lots of night shifts, not a lot of writing from what I've heard.

    Description:
    We have big shoes to fill. Our assistant sports editor is an APSE award winner and is leaving us to become editor of his own sports department. Are you up to the challenge? Our next assistant sports editor will be part editor, part writer, part coach and full-time advocate for creating a high quality sports section.
    Qualifications include demonstrated ability to generate enterprise and feature stories on a consistent basis, some design experience with Quark (going to InDesign soon) and Photoshop and the ability to articulate a vision for the sports section of the future.

    Responsibilities include running the sports desk when with sports editor is not present, covering Division III athletics; writing a weekly column, assisting in Web strategies, helping coach young staff to a higher level of performance and exploring new strategies to expand coverage to the entire sports community.

    The Northwestern is a 25,000 AM daily in a community that is host to the third largest UW campus in Wisconsin and is recognized state-wide for its highly competitive prep programs.
