I used to work at a video store back in the day, and whenever there was a huge movie coming down the pike everyone was anticipating, some studio would come out with a quickie knock-off. Think Alan Quartermine and the City of Gold (Raiders of the Lost Ark) or Mac and Me (ET).

Ghoulies! Was the worst movie I'd ever seen until I saw Armageddon. Also possibly the only movie I rented and never finished. Gross and ugly.

Long Gone is easily my favorite baseball movie.

I think we had this conversation about Long Gone before. It comes up on the site every once in a while.

I think the pecking order went Gremlins > Critters > Ghoulies.

The first Critters was a really fun cable flick. Critters 2 was somewhat enjoyable if you'd seen the first one. I have no idea how they made it all the way to Part 5.

They somehow made four fucking Ghoulies movies!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoulies_(film_series)

They also made SIX Trancers movies--three of which co-starred Helen Hunt!!!

There are no bad movies like this anymore. A shame.

Not even sure this fits the thread - but its one of those movies without big name stars, minimal studio support that was amazing.

Oh good call on that one! Kyle Maclahlan was pretty big name then.

Forgot to mention “Hercules in New York” earlier. I believe it was Schwarzenegger’s first acting role.

The only question is whether the version with the horrible dubbing is better than the original one with Arnold’s accent.
