Our first national seed is gone. Southern Miss hits four home runs and takes out Auburn, 7-2.
And backing up my earlier post, Southern Miss got a lead early, only had to burn one reliever, and is set up as well as you can be for having to win three more games in two days.

I do not get even a tiny bit what ESPN is doing with these time slots. There are seven games with first pitch scheduled for 9 pm EDT - Stanford and a half-dozen in the Central Time Zone.

Yeah, I couldn't figure that out either. The 3/9 p.m. EST split is ridiculous. I guess it's a function of having so many games in the east this tournament — there are a bunch of regionals on a 12/6 split, so the 3/9 splits are intended to stagger out the action — but it's practically begging for a weather delay to completely foul up the schedule.

Clemson already with two different running errors that would get your Dairy Queen helmet sundae pulled.

Auburn was a very good team last year, that Sonny dude was fun to watch. Went on the road and played its way to the CWS. Big ups.

No way did it deserve a regional this year. But have your AD lead the selection committee, play 33 home games, skip Vandy, Tennessee and Kentucky, and play 12 league games against bottom-feeders Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss and MSU, and RPI can be gamed.

I assume they are trying to stagger them around the Softball Series games that are 3/7 ET?

Weather issues in Fayetteville. Santa Clara and Arizona have yet to start their elimination game, and the winners' bracket game between TCU and Arkansas has been punted to tomorrow.
Guess it's not too much of an issue as long as they get back on track tomorrow, though. Worst case scenario at this point is they have to play two games instead of one on Monday. The Monday if necessary game was already baked into the schedule.

I don’t know why the NCAA delayed the Fayetteville Regional for so long. Lightning moved out three hours ago. They could have started playing this game much earlier.

Indiana has a player ejected for bringing a home run celebration prop onto the field. Then a fat guy in a polo whose pants are falling down has to escort him out of the stadium.

And you thought the accommodations at the Kentucky regional were bad?

LSU and Oregon State are probably close to being postponed. Tulane and Sam Houston are in an extended delay (going on four hours) and still in the seventh inning. There is supposed to be 55 minutes between games, and no games can start after 11 p.m. local time according to NCAA rules. Figure they have about 30 minutes for the first game to get cranked back up if they're going to finish, take the required break and then throw the first pitch 2 1/2 hours from now. Gotta imagine both teams would rather just play two tomorrow if they're starting at 10:45.

EDIT: And there it is. If they're waiting until 2, I guess it means they're leaving the option of having to finish Tulane-Sam Houston in the morning.
