I couldn’t tell you the title or many other details, but there was a book I checked out from the junior high library where the protagonist hated his first name (Kissimmee), which he got from the city of his birth.

 

I put it on the wrong thread, then couldn't find it, now it's deleted here and on the trivia thread where it belongs.

And no, it's not Donnie Anderson.
