    Of course.

But laws should be limited in their application to violations of the rights of others through force or fraud. ... or if someone is involuntarily harming others (for example, if a factory is dumping toxic chemicals into a public lake).

None of that applies to, "I want to pay less than the price arrived at via voluntary exchange, so the government should put in price controls."

Not all is as simple or obvious as it seems. For starters, all crude oil ain't the same. U.S. refineries tend to be set up to work with the kind of oil "we" import. Similarly, U.S. crude exports tend to be of the type "our" refineries aren't set up for. And changing that setup ain't exactly a matter of dialing a few knobs.

Also: How is "reduced ... dependency on foreign oil" necessarily in the best interests of the (U.S.) consumer?

Guess who is fundraising in Florida right now? (Hint: It's not about helping out anyone affected by Hurricane Ian.)

It's easy to be conspiculously compassionate. ... when you think you are entitled to force others to pay the cost.

Nobody said anything like "Fealty to me, none for thee." That is yet another distortion. It's possible (and usually is the case) to understand what I posted, and also be personally commited to voluntary charity.

If you didn't want it done via government, you didn't want it done.

You’ve got rabbit ears Angel Hernandez would be proud of. He was pretty clearly talking about the DeSantis story above his.

So you have no problem with jacking up the price of insulin, epipens and other medicines? After all, it's just the free market, right, so what if people die because they can't afford the medicine because some guy bought the patent and raised the price by 700%? All the market will bear, right? Good to know.
