The Seattle Times is seeking a temporary sports reporter to contribute to print and digital coverage as needed. This person will cover games, practices and news, and produce feature stories in one of America’s most vibrant sports cities and regions. This role calls for self-starters who possess strong news judgment and excellent verbal, analytic and writing skills, along with the ability to work all stories under pressure within assigned deadlines.

First question: How temporary is “temporary”?

By temporary do they mean covering the XFL?

At this point it's for three months.

    Probably not, but it's possible.

Someone hires me for only three months, they can cover the housing costs. Thx.

How tight the staffs must be if they are hiring for a three-month position? Back in the day, you'd pull someone in from another department if you didn't have someone in sports. Or is this just a glorified preps listing?

It's not the first time they've done this. An explanation
from @paulbarrett would be welcome right about now.

They've advertised for part-time and short-term workers before.
If you're in Seattle, hey, why not! Dunno why they cast that net farther, though. Not worth the risks.

I definitely wouldn't relocate for a temp job, unless you have somewhere or someone to bunk with.
